I’m passionate about love and marriage and even more passionate about helping other wives to discover their passions and chase their dreams while maintaining happy, healthy marriages. As wives, we are the real MVPs. We juggle so many different things and each and every one of us WERKS in one way or another (whether that be by holding a traditional job outside of the home, managing our own blog, business, or brand, or doing something totally different). I’m a firm believer that this is something that should be celebrated, and that’s why I created LiveLifeWell’s monthly Wives Who WERK segment. Each month, I will be interviewing a wife in order to celebrate her and what she does. I would love to feature you! If you’re a wife who would be interested in being featured or if you want to nominate someone else, don’t hesitate to contact me.
I’m always surprised how special people come into my life. I’ve met so many amazing women through the blogging world, and Mrs. Toiia Rukuni is definitely one of them! We first connected through BLM when she offered to help me come up with an amazing Pinterest strategy (which has worked, may I add!) and ever since, we has supported me in all of my endeavors. I am so excited to feature her as my first wife who WERKS of 2017!
What makes you more than a wifey?
Being more than a wifey means maintaining my responsibilities as a wife and mother. While also being a growing Mompreneur and Lady Boss who successfully runs my own blog, furthers my development as a Pinterest Marketing Strategy Coach, dominates my career, and consistently gives back to my community.
How did you determine your passion?
I have always had a deep passion for serving others and teaching, with a strong desire to empower women and youth around the world. Since an early age I have created content through the arts in dance, theater, drama, writing, choreography, and reading great books!
Tell us your love story! How did you and your husband meet? How long have you been married?
My beloved husband and I met as college buddies eventually sweethearts on Michigan State’s campus as undergraduate students. We traveled in the same circles but actually never met until one day on campus. He walked me to one of my classes and it has been history with two countries, two states, and two lovely children later! We have known each other since 1999 but we have been married since 2003.
How has your husband supported you and your dreams?
My husband truly is my best friend, and with any best friend that give it you straight and to the point. My husband is my rock, my toughest critic and he gives me that tough love when I need it. I really need a person like that in my life and God truly delivered on that one. I really do not know where I would be without him in my life!
How do you balance your household/marital responsibilities and your blog and brand?
The only way that I can make it through each day, week, month, or year is through prayer. I have to start and end my day with prayer and put God first above everything in life. I think that the mystery of balance is something that all wives and mothers are trying to solve, I am one of those people who work very hard at my career, marriage, blog, business, and my household. I think that my household is my first and most meaningful business. When I have built a successful household, I am able to focus on other aspects of my life. I tend to make a blue print or strategy for the year, but after that as with life I go with the flow and see what opportunities God has in store for me for the new year!
What is your biggest piece of marital advice for other wives?
My biggest piece of marital advice is to put God first over everything, and to hold on tightly and boldly to your faith. At the end of the day realize that marriage is work, do not be afraid to think outside the box to keep things interesting and develop a partnership with your husband to accomplish both of your hopes and dreams for the future. Always communicate effectively, openly, and honestly with each other, and remember the things that brought your union together in the first place, and never let any outside influences distract you from your truth!
Where do you see yourself, your family, and your blog and brand in 5 years?
I think that in 5 years my children will be older and more independent, my blog would have had major longevity along with my career as a coach. I just see myself and my family happy and being present for each other and living our life to the fullest continuing to do the things that we love and loving each other!
