Eating My Way Through Ponce City Market: H&F Burger

Ponce City Market is a mixed-use development located in Atlanta’s historic Sears, Roebuck, and Co. building. It’s a huge indoor/outdoor complex that contains shops, office space, living space, a rooftop park , and an amazing food hall. As a foodie, the part about Ponce City Market that makes me most excited is the wide range of restaurant options. My mission is to try each and every restaurant in Ponce City Market’s Food Hall, then rank my top 5. The first restaurant that I tried during my quest to eat my way through Ponce City Market was W.H. Stiles Fish Camp. Last week, I had the pleasure of dining at H&F Burger and I’m excited to share my thoughts.

H&F Burger

I finished a round of the 21 Day Fix last Sunday, so naturally, after eating healthy for 3 weeks, I was ready for some comfort food. If you ask me, you can never go wrong with a good ol’ hamburger and fries. From Yeah Burger to Al’s Butter Burger, boutique burger restaurants are all the rage in Atlanta these days. There are burger restaurants on every corner but it is well known that Holeman and Finch Public House serves the best burger in Atlanta. Since everything is made fresh each evening (literally everything – the buns are fresh baked, the pickles and ketchup are made in house, and they even grind the meat themselves), they only serve 24 burgers each night and it’s hard to snag one before they run out. Because of the fame of the burger, Chef Linton Hopkins and co. have expanded to establish H&F burger, which serves the same Holeman and Finch hamburger we all know and love at Turner Field and inside Ponce City Market’s food hall.

Like all of us, I’ve had my fair share of amazing hamburgers, but it can be hard to find one that’s cooked to perfection and has just the right toppings. The cheeseburger at H&F Burger was simple and delicious. It was topped with the best sandwich pickles and their homemade ketchup was different, but in a good way. The fries were “real” – not some frozen potatoes that were thrown in a pot of hot grease, and they did not disappoint. The setup of H&F Burger is similar to many restaurants in Ponce City Market. Diners have the option to sit either at the restaurant’s bar or take their food to go and enjoy it at any open table throughout the food hall. My mom and I opted to do the latter and enjoyed people watching as we chowed down on our cheeseburgers and fries. Although the best burger I’ve even had remains the wagyu beef burger I had at one of my favorite restaurants in Japan, H&F Burger definitely gives Shake Shack and Five Guys a run for their money!
