Achieving Fresh Face Goals with Olay Luminous

A little over a year ago, I walked into Sephora and bought 3 different concealers. Three. I was so unhappy with my complexion that I was willing to do anything to cover up the dark spots I had accumulated throughout the years. Growing up, I always had great skin, but living in 3 different countries in 3 years and dealing with 3 different climates and types of water did a number on me. I was left with skin that I wasn’t confident about whatsoever and I yearned to find a way to accomplish my fresh face goals. Starting out on a new journey is a funny thing. With every one of life’s journeys comes a new adventure and a new opportunity to learn more about ourselves and become the best versions of ourselves that we can possibly be. Here on LiveLifeWell recently, I’ve shared a lot about the journey towards physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness that I’ve embarked on. Until recently, I did not fully realize how much the physical and spiritual aspects involve taking better care of my skin.

Spiritually, I’ve been focusing a lot on embracing and honoring the gifts that God blessed me with. While I don’t think I’ll ever be one of those women who doesn’t ever wear make-up, part of spiritual wellness for me involves learning to love the beauty of what God gave me without adding enhancements. As far as my skin goes, this means wearing foundation less often and learning to love my skin, flaws and all. Although I think self-love is super important, I also believe that we have to be intentional about correcting the things that we don’t feel 100% confident about. I’ve been looking for new ways to create skin that I’m proud of, including trying new skincare regimens, drinking more water, and eating a more balanced diet, and taking better care of my skin has opened my eyes to a brand new part of physical wellness that I never considered.

This summer, I found myself wearing foundation less and less as I focused on self-acceptance. What I realized is that I absolutely love not feeling the pressure of having to put on a full face of make-up every single time I leave the house. While I was happy to embrace this new make-up free lifestyle, at times, I found myself feeling a little insecure about my skin. I deal with hyperpigmentation and have dark spots, especially on my cheeks, that I often felt the need to cover up. I wished that my skin-tone was a little more even so that I could rock my fresh face with confidence. When it comes to skincare regimens, I felt like I had tried them all, but when I heard about the Olay Luminous 28 Day Challenge, I knew I had to give it a try. The challenge involved replacing my existing skincare products with the Olay Luminous line, which includes the Olay Luminous Micellar Water, the Miracle Boost Concentrate, the Light Hydrating Lotion, and the Overnight Mask. My hope was to achieve my fresh face goals, which include treating my uneven skin tone to reveal healthy, make-up free skin that I can feel good about. I’m excited to share all about my experience:

What I loved most about using the Olay Luminous line was how easy the steps were. Sometimes, when regimens are too in depth, I get overwhelmed and turned off. The instructions were easy to follow and definitely didn’t take too much time out of my

morning or evening routines. I did enjoy how simple the Olay Luminous products were to use. While I am accustomed to using some sort of soap and water on my face at least once a day, the Micellar Water was an interesting change and seemed to do a fine job cleansing my skin. My favorite part of using the products was without a doubt the Overnight Mask. I slathered it on liberally every evening and let it soak into my skin before bedtime. Every morning, my skin felt soft and moisturized and had a glow that even my husband noticed. Within 7 days of using Olay Luminous, my skin felt softer to the touch. Within 14 days, my combination skin that usually appears oily in spots and dry in others was far more even. It felt so moisturized from the Overnight Mask that on most mornings, I didn’t even feel the need to use the Light Hydrating Lotion. 28 days later, while I still have dark spots, my skin is more even and my pores are noticeably smaller.

With the help of Olay Luminous, I’m well on my way to achieving my fresh face goals. While I’ll likely add a soap to my evening regimen and tie in a product that’s more aggressive for treating hyperpigmentation, I’ll definitely continue to use the products and don’t think I’ll ever part with the Overnight Mask as I truly believe that it has worked wonders in terms of keeping my skin even and moisturized. I would recommend the Olay Luminous line to anyone who is looking to rock a fresh face with confidence, but especially women of color with combination skin similar to mine.
