5 Halloween Movies for Scaredy Cats

I’ve been banned from watching scary movies since college. Somewhere between the Ring and the Paranormal Activity series, I realized that I was one of those people who just couldn’t watch them. My husband realized the same when I kept him up all night after watching the Orphan (which to most people wasn’t even that scary), and ever since, if I even mention watching a scary movie, I get a serious side eye. If you avoid creepy commercials like the plague, can’t sleep after a scary movie, find yourself thinking about it randomly days after you’ve watched it, and think any sound that you hear is the demon or killer coming to get you, it’s likely that you too are a scaredy cat. Halloween is just around the corner and the lovers of all things spooky are uniting to ensure that us scaredy cats have a hard time. Just because you don’t like to be scared out of your mind doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the festivities! These 5 Halloween movies are scaredy cat approved:

I've been banned from watching scary movies, but that doesn't mean I can't still enjoy the festivities. These 5 Halloween movies are scaredy cat approved!
  1. Haloweentown: If you’re a scaredy cat like me, Disney Channel movies are probably your best bet and this one happens to be my personal favorite!

  2. Ghost Busters: Although I’ve heard not-so-favorable reviews about the remake, you can never go wrong with the original. This 1980s classic is one of the best Halloween comedies of all time.

  3. Beetlejuice: This was one of my favorite movies as a kid so I watched it year round and have seen it more times than I could possibly count. To this day, I’m still afraid to say Beetlejuice three times, but the movie is silly and perfect for those of us who steer away from ghosts that are actually scary.

  4. Practical Magic: Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock in the same movie + comedy, romance, and a tiny bit of creepy- need I say more?

  5. Hocus Pocus: This is about as scary as it gets for me! Although this is technically a movie for kids, it’s perfect for those of us who need our witches served up Disney-style.

Which of these not-so-scary Halloween movies are you excited to watch?
