Losing weight requires so much more than what we think. Often times we think fitness requires working out and eating right. It does. However there is a missing key component that is often overlooked . Can you guess what it is ? It is called mindset. Mindset is extremely important when you are trying to lose weight. Mindset or willpower is what will help you push harder when you feel like giving up and quitting.

Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny. — Mahatma Gandhi

What a powerful statement that is true in every area of our lives. When it comes to fitness, it is necessary for us to have the right mindset. Are you believing that you can lose weight ? Are you believing you can get fit & healthy ? Take a moment to think about these questions.

If there is any doubt in our mind that we can’t reach our fitness goals, then there is a possibility that we won’t reach our goals. There will be ups and downs during our fitness journey, but it will require a strong mindset to continue during the difficult times.

Here are 3 ways to be fitness minded

  1. Visualization – see yourself losing weight and getting fit and healthy. Create a vision board that inspires you to reach your fitness goals. Cut photos of your dream body , inspiring words, healthy words and images and post them on your vision boards.

  2. Before you workout, glance over your vision board and visualize yourself reaching your goals. Can you see yourself becoming fit and healthy ?

  3. Journaling – write down in a journal what you are thinking . Is your mind sabotaging your fitness journey ? Are you repeating the same story, “ I can’t lose this weight “ . etc. Rewrite your story by writing in a new journal what you want to accomplish on your fitness journey. Read your new life journal everyday until your mind begin to believe what you are saying. Journal your way to fitness.

  4. Affirmation – Find affirmations that will strengthen what you believe or wish to accomplish. Affirm your beliefs by stating them out loud. Speak them into existence. “ I am fit and healthy”. “ I am “ are two of the most powerful words you can say . Be cautious about what you are saying after these 2 words. Your “ I am “ will become your reality. Keep it positive , uplifting and true to what you desire to become.

Here are some powerful weight loss affirmations

  1. I am healthy and happy

  2. I radiate good health

  3. My body is healed, restored and full of energy.

  4. I have the power to restore my health.

In summary, see it(visualize) yourself reaching your fitness goals, Believe it(journal) your new found beliefs until you start to feel and believe them and become it(affirm) what you want to become until it becomes your reality.
