Before my husband left for France last weekend, it seemed like everyone in the city wanted to visit with him to see him off. Not only did his friends want to hang out with him, but I also wanted to be at his side every moment I could. The thought that we would be in 2 different for more than 4 months made me reluctant to spend even a few hours away from him during our last few weeks together. At the same time, I wanted to allow him to see his buddies since he wouldn’t be seeing them for a while either. The perfect solution to my problem was to double date.
DJ and I love going on group couples’ trips, and a double date is a miniature version of the same thing. It’s an awesome way to have the best of both worlds as you spend time with your spouse in a social setting with other friends. Conversation
It’s always fun to hear other people’s point of views and talking with other couples during double dates is a fun way to do so. Good conversation is the thing I love the most about double dates. The ladies can talk about fashion while the men talk about sports. The whole group can chit chat about current events and share their different outlooks. Double dating is a great way to jazz things up and break up the monotony of only discussing certain topics with your boo.
Competition
A little friendly competition is always a lot of fun. While you can be competitive with just 2 people, there’s something more exciting about it when it’s 4 people. Whether it’s boys against girls or one couples against another, competition during a double date is sure to give you and your mate something to talk about and work on (if you come in last place) later on.
Connections
Double dating is a great way to make friends and build connections. I met one of my very best friends when my husband (who was my boyfriend at the time) suggested that we double date with his teammate and his girlfriend. Although their relationship didn’t last, our friendship did. A double date is a great way to meet bae’s friends and their significant others and build genuine connection with them.
My husband and I recently went on a double date with friends we hadn’t seen in a while and we had a great time catching up over dinner at Two Urban Licks. Here are the details on what I wore:
