Last November, I do did the unthinkable. I decided that my spending had gotten out of hand and decided to challenge myself to refrain from shopping for an entire month. Although I allowed myself to shop for food (obviously), gifts for other people, and necessities (like lotion – there’s no reason to walk around ashy), I vowed that I wouldn’t buy any clothes, shoes, or accessories for myself during the month. Although it wasn’t easy and I was tempted more than a few times, I got a lot out of it and have decided to do it annually. It’s time for the No Shop November Challenge and I invite you all to join me. Here’s why you should do the No Shop November Challenge next month:
3 Reasons To Do the No Shop November Challenge
It allows you to save money for the holidays: One of the best things about No Shop November is that it helps you to save a lot of money. The holiday season is full of travel and gift-buying, and not spending money on yourself lets you save a lot of money that you can spend on other things or other people.
You’re able to make a pretty awesome holiday wish list: My favorite thing about No Shop November is window shopping. I’m a self-proclaimed shopaholic, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t look. While I’m out and about, instead of buying things for myself, I make a pretty big wish list that I share with my husband so that “Santa” knows what to get me.
It gives you a chance to appreciate the things that you have: Gratitude is always my word for November. The month is all about being thankful, and not shopping for a month definitely gives you a chance to appreciate the things that you have. I often find that I have clothes in my closet that still have the tags on them, and No Shop November gives me an opportunity to give those things some love.
